The Five Basic Duties OF A Muslim

We are Muslim

We must do some basic duties as muslim.

What are these basic duties?

There are Five duties

A . SHAHAADAH             To Declare The Faith ( Imaan )
B . SALAAH ( Namaz )    To Read The Five Daily Salaah. ( Namaz )
C . ZAKAAH ( Zakat )      To Give The Welfare Due To The Poor 
D . SAUM                          To Fast During The Month OF Ramadaan
E . HAJJ                           To Go On Pilgrimage To Makkah Sharif
These five duties are also called    ARKAANUL ISLAM   or  the Pillars of  Islam.
( 1 )   The Shahaada is             
This means  There is no God but Almighty Allah , Muhommad ( sallal laahu alaihi wasalam ) is the Messenger of Almighty Allah.

It is also called the  KALIMAH TAYYIBAH

Shahaadah is the first duty of a Muslim.

To be a Muslim , one must read and believe in the Shahaadah.

When we recite the Kalimah,  we declare thath Almighty Allah is our Maker  and  our Lord.

We must do everything that Almighty Allah has commanded us to do.

It is Almighty Allah who has created us and the entire world.

We also declare, when we recite the Shahaadah  that our Nabi Muhommad ( sallal laahu alaihi wasalam )  is our leader and the most perfect example to follow.

He is the final and greatest Messenger of Almighty Allah.

We cannot obey Almighty Allah if we do not follow what our Nabi Muhommad ( sallal laahu alaihi wasalam )  has taught us.

A Muslim who reads and believes in the Shahaadah must do good deeds and keep away from bad deeds.


 (2nd)   SALAAH     To Read The Five Daily Sallah ( Namaz )

Most Important duty of a Muslim is Salaah (Namaz) .  Salaah is the five daily prayers which a muslim must perform.


Why do we read Sallah  helps us to remember Almighty Allah

It reminds us that we are Almighty Allah's   servants ( Humble Bandhe )

Namaz brings us closer to Almighty Allah.

It helps us to obey Almighty Allah.

Salaah helps us to be good Muslims.

Salaah help us to do good deeds.

It Saves us from bad deeds.

Sallah helps us to build up a good character.

You cannot be a proper Muslim if you do not read your Sallah.

What is Zakaah  ,    Just as  Salaah is an act of prayer ( ibaadah ) , so is Zakaah an act of ibaadah

Zakaah is to give part of your wealth to your fellow Muslim Brothers and Sisters who are poor, needy, hungry and cannot manage.

Why must we give zakaah

The word  Zakaah means  ( to clean )  Zakaah cleans our wealth and our hearts.

Zakaah makes us think about the poor Muslims.

It prevent us from being greedy and selfish.

When we give Zakaah  we come closer to Almighty Allah.

We remember that all our wealth belongs to Almighty Allah.

it teaches us that money must be used for the good of other Muslim too.

Zakaah brings the rich closer to the poor.


Who must give Zakaah

Those Muslim who have more money than they can spend must give Zakaah.

Zakaah is given every year.


What is Saum

Saum is fasting in the Month of Ramadaan.

Waht do we do when we keep fast

We do not eat or drink during the day. We also be at our best behaviour.

When does fasting begin

Fasting begins at daybreak and ends at sunset.  We must fast each day in the month of Ramadaan.

Why must we keep Fast

Fastinf is a blessing from Almight Allah.

It makes us remember Almighty Allah.

It helps to make us better Muslim.

Fasting helps us to think about the poor and hungry people.

Fasting will protect us from the fire of Hell.

What else is special about the Month of Ramadaan

We have a  meal before  dawn called  ( Sehri )

We have  ( Iftaar )   iftaar is to eat when the sun has set.

Ramadan    Laylatul Qadr,    is a very special night given to us by Almighty Allah.   It comes in the Month of Ramadaan.

This is a great night, full of blessing from Almighty Allah and is better than a thousand Months.

Muslims should stay awake the whole night and read special Namaz.

During this night, we must read the Holy Quraan and ask forgiveness from Almighy Allah.


The festival after the Month of  Ramadaan is called   EID-UL-FITR
This is a day of great joy and happiness.

We thank Almighty Allah for blessing us with the month of Ramadaan.

We ask Almighty Allah to guide us and keep us good Muslims in all the other months of the year.

On Eid day we wear new clothes and go to the Masjid.

The receive Eidi and gifts from their parents and elders.

On this day must also think of the poor and the needy.

we meet and visit friends and relatives.

What is Hajj

Hajj is to visit the Holy Kaaba in the city  of Makkah Mukaramah

Hajj is to make special ibadaah

Muslim go for Hajj during the Islamic Month of Zil Hajj.

Those Muslim who can afford it must go for Hajj at least once in their life.


What does Hajj teach us

Hajj is an act of ibadaah and makes us think about Almighty Allah and our Nabi Muhommad  ( sallal laahu alaihi wasalam ) .

It teaches us to give up our comfarts, our time and our wealth for the sake of Almighty Allah.

during the Hajj, Muslim from all over the world meet each other.  Hajj teaches us that all Muslim are equal  ( No rich No Poor ).


What is Baitullah

The Holy Kaaba is also called  ( Baitullah )   The house of Almighty Allah.

Muslim face the Holy Kaaba when they are reading their Salah ( Namaz ).


Which other city do Muslims visit when on Hajj

Muslims also visit Madinatul Munawarah  which is city of our Nabi Muhommad ( sallal laahu alaihi wasalam ).

They visit Masjid-un-Nabi ( sallal laahu alaihi wasalam ) and send Darood o Salams to our Nabi Muhommad ( sallal laahu alaihi wasalam )


When is Eid-ul-Adha  celebrated

The festival of Eid-ul-Adha is also celebrated during Hajj.

On this day , Muslim all over the world offer  QURBANI ( sacrifice ) of an animal, which is the Sunnah of Nabi Ibrahim ( Alayhis Salam ) and Nabi Ismail ( Alayhis Salam ).
