Born in 1142 CE in Sistan, which is now in modern-day segistan, seestan, Khwaja Garib Nawaz embarked on a journey of profound spiritual exploration from a young age. He studied with many Sufi teachers and quickly became known for being smart, kind, and dedicated to God.
Khwaja Moin-ul-Din Hassan Chishty finally settled down in Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. It was there that he started the Chishti Order of Sufism. His lessons stressed that everyone should love, accept, and work together, no matter what religion or social background they came from. He thought that God was one and told his followers to help people without expecting anything in return.
